In setup -> view dmx I/O, for universes 1 and 2, you should see a column "In last rx", which is the time since it last received an artnet packet for that universe. If you set patch -> view chans, merge field to "norm", and use magicQ to control the fixture. I'm wondering how much clicking around you've done in the magicQ showfile you're using, might be worth starting a new show and loading defaults, as you only need to patch fixtures?ĭoes magicVis work as it normally would? i.e. "In" means it will only take data from the external source (soundswitch), "Merge" means it will do an HTP (probably) merge of the external data (soundswitch) and the internal data from magicQ, "In" is probably the one you want to use.Īt that point you should start to see the external data affecting the fixtures in the visualiser window, and raw values changing in the output window if you select view chan -> view dmx -> view inputs. Select all channels that need to take the external input and change the value from "norm" to either "In" or "merge". Then in Patch -> View Chans the 4th column from the right is "Merge". In magicQ, setup -> View DMX I/O set the correct artnet input universes on the universes with the fixtures patched (presumably this is 1->1, 2->2, 3->3 etc.) and set the output type to none (to prevent conflicts). Soundswitch sees magicQ as an artnet endpoint, which is good, and will send it data (which is kind of crucial). So just confirm that your patch in soundswitch matches the patch in magicQ before moving on. It doesn't start to listen for artnet if there isn't a magicQ console in session.

I think you will need to have magicQ running, not just magicVis, as the first thing magicVis does on startup is wait for a console connection.
